Spreading the Good Vibes Through Clothes
In my fashion school days, I learnt that fashion is not just about clothes, but it’s a social phenomenon that has nothing to envy to all other cultural phenomena. It is a status symbol, it represents power, status and more often than not, ethics and ideas.
When was the last time you wore a band t-shirt or a specific pattern that said something about your tastes in life? Probably not long ago, right?
Fashion has the wonderful power of talking for ourselves. It has the power to tell others who we are before we even say a word. It’s this powerful, and this article is an invitation to use this power wisely.
A couple of months ago I got in touch with the amazing Elias and Mao from The Dharma Store. Their project brought me these thoughts about the power of clothes to spread the good vibes. If it’s true that our clothes tell a lot about who we are, it’s also true that we can use them to communicate and spread a specific message.
That’s exactly what they do, listen up.
Elias and Mao are a young couple that decided to take a stand against the exploitation of innocent beings in the modern life, and work towards a new lifestyle. The Dharma Store has an important role in their conscious journey, as it represents the new connection that must exist between fashion and awareness.
Their t-shirts and tops are WRAP certified (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production), the inks are water based and eco-friendly and the packaging is 100% recyclable or fully biodegradable. And of course, everything is 100% cruelty-free and vegan (PETA approved).
They say that “Clothes should make you feel good and also spread good vibes to those around you.” I couldn’t agree more with this statement, and honestly, it totally fires me up.
The other thing I love about this brand is that it’s 50% vegan and 50% yoga: if you have been following Stylebizarre for a while, you’ll already know I’m a sucker for anything yoga.
Although I love all the vegan humour prints and vegan themed t-shirts, I’m not really into prints in general, so this time, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and get something that’s not typically me. I got a funny t-shirt that says “I love vegan boys” and a tank top with a gorgeous meditating doll with chakras (and the root chakra totally looks like a yoni; oops, I said it!).
You know what? I’ve been wearing them a lot since I got them, especially the tank top (I generally wear tank tops much more than short sleeve t-shirts). I’m also super glad the t-shirt has quite a long cut, so it can be worn over leggings and a cardigan or hoodie on top. Comfiest outfit ever!
Now, the people I meet will immediately know these things in this order: that I love vegan boys, that I probably love boots and boys with boots, I meditate and I do yoga.
What do your clothes say about you?
